2006 Pakistan Trip: Expanding Horizons
Alright folks! My flights are booked and I am preparing for my trip now. I have purchased a new E-500 camera just for this trip to provide full 8 megapixel quality images here. Locations: Lahore Islamabad Karachi Multan Seetpur Alipur Gwadar Skardu Kaghan Gilget Rawalpindi Murree Ayubia Abbottabad Mansehra Balakot Shogran Naran Saif-ul-Malik lake Lalosar lake Chilas Dudipatsar lake Mahodand lake Karumbar lake Upper Kachura lake Satpara Lake Laila Peak Kandol Lake Byaal Camp Deosai National Park Shangrilla Passu Ansoo Lake Banak Pass Karakoram Shyok River Fairy Meadows Camera: E-500 http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/EV500/E500A.HTM I will also make random stops elsewhere but this is the in the rock planning for this years trip. Expect a crazy amount of Pictures as I take my external 40 gig hardrive and my laptop with me to take a infinite amount of pictures. Just imagine how signifigant this will be for Pakistan's image! Anyways, I will also require your help on this voyage that will help me travel throughout the country. Hopefully I will be even more enlightened than I was from last years trip. Wish me luck and courage... This area was hit by a strong earthquake that killed a entire generation of children while they were being educated. They were the future and now they are gone! 80,000 people vanished within 1 minute. 3 million were made homeless...Many died trying to survive the winter but now the summer has come and the tourist season has begun! I will see many foreigners this year because people are making a effort to travel to this area to get the tourism sector back on its feet. Wish me luck this is for a good cause! Nothing can prepare me for what I am about to see! I will travel through Kashmir and I will reach close to the border with China and Afghanistan. I will be accompanied by Captain Tahir of the Pakistani military. I will pass by Balakot the hardest hit city.... ![]() The city has been leveled ![]() Borat lake near Gilgit ![]() Dudipatsar lake ![]() Dudipatsar near Naran ![]() Mahodand lake ![]() Karumbar lake near Gilgit ![]() Kachura lake near Skardu, Baltistan ![]() Upper Kachura lake ![]() Satpara Lake, Baltistan ![]() Another view of Satpara Lake I might meet some US Army soldiers who are working with the Pakistani army to hand out relief and rebuild. Just to show how safe this area is!
Every year Europeans ask the government to climb the peaks in the surronding area's! And the military trains in these parts so it is very very very safe! take a look at the video http://youtube.com/watch?v=FDcXKqRcYkQ&search=PAKISTAN -------------------- Pakistan is currently in a period of impresive economic growth. And yes currently the ones dispatched are the ones that voluntered to go. Including 95% of the Pakistanis in the military so it will be intresting to meet them and see their perspective. But the 2nd leg of the trip is to highlight the new port city that will take Dubai's position thanks to the oil hungry China and gas hungry India. It will also serve as a port for central asian nations. So the development of this port is required for many nations to perform well economically. These pictures are nothing! Perhaps I will post more after I finish packing.
