Hey,

Some of you may have noticed CirTap's super new automatic configuration in IPB SDK 1.1. This script should allow you to use IPB SDK without needing to configuring it, and knowing your root path.

We'd like to know how well its working. In order to run it without configuration, simply don't upload the ipbsdk_conf.inc.php and allow IPB SDK to try and detect your settings. The automatic configuration tool should also step in if you have entered an incorrect path.

If you've had problems with configuring the SDK in the past and finding the root path in the past; does the SDK now work? If it doesn't work, please let us know your setup. What is the address/path to the folder containing SDK files, and your forum?

All feedback will be very valuable smile.gif

Thanks,
Cow

Let me ask you cowweb, WHO DOESN'T know their board path? VERY VERY FEW people that don't know what's going on are the only ones that don't know. WHY not in the installation readme just put 1 sentence telling the people what the path is? Wouldn't that be much simpler?

Shyt: There's people who won't know they're path or won't want to bother working it out. Simply, if everyone knew the board path as you claim then there wouldn't be all these support topics. Thank you for your input though, how do you actually propose this would make it any easier?

That is true, but if you think of it, people that don't bother figuring out their path by reading 1 sentence in the readme, searching google, asking the people here, or simply looking at their path in cpanel or ftp, shouldn't be using the SDK in the first place. I think if you put it in the readme, just a brief explanation and the example of what a path is then eveybody can understand it. I have a better way of doing it to tell you the truth, but I am afraid (not out of spite or competition) that after I tell you My Account mod will be nothing...not to mention, I IMed IPCN just to say watsup and show him my update and he just cursed at me and logged off AIM. So....you get the point...

I dont think cow's topic was "should he include this feature in SDK" it was.. How well does the automatic configuration tool work?

I think keeping the newbie user in mind is the way to go here.. even if it is small like auto configure scripts that do what is described here.. less redundant topics here related to paths..

I do agree with what you say about people that do not take the time to read and find out what there path is and such.. ssiplus is what these people need not SDK by itself..

I'd like to know how your modifications looks like. Can you PM me your paths, an outline of it, or at least explain what you've changed, where you put the files, or if you run different sub-domains for the website and the board?
There's certainly an issue with the latter smile.gif

Thnx.
