Hi,
this add-on was previously announced in September 2003, but never made it to the beta release. I was too busy doing my client's projects (paying my bills), and had more fun in helping Cow with IPBSDK and SSIplus+

Please read the copy of the original annoucement to learn what Injector is all about. With the relaunch of "Invisionize", the old topic was pruned.

The beta team is testing the libs and Plug-Ins
Please understand, that I don't want to "throw" the sources out to the public yet, but first collect the feedback of an initially small group of people to discuss and hopefully solve the major issues.

Version: 0.5.11 (internal developer release)
BB Systems: IPB 1.1.2, 1.2, 1.3 (2.0 support possible but not built-in)
Demo: available for the public with v0.5
Progress: Injector 95%, IBF1.x "board driver" 90%, Library 60%
Documentation: 50% (developers), -1% (end users)
Plug-In examples to demonstrate the interfaces are included (10 by now)
Step-by-step Tutorial in progress (30% done)
API Reference (autogenerated)

Writing Plug-Ins
... means writing external, standalone PHP scripts and will require (some) advanced programming skills, and a very good knowledge of the OO principles of PHP. A Plug-In Developer does not necessarily have to be an IPB crack to enhance a board's appearance or functionality, but must know how to write PHP and how to handle objects.
A Plug-In can basically be everything: a "one liner" or a full blown application with separate pages that integrates into the Forum or AdminCP -- or both.

Using Plug-Ins
The aim of Injector is to prevent Board Owners, aka users, from "patching" or "modding" the original IPB source files anymore in order to enhance their board, but only make modifications to the Skins and copy some files to their webserver -- which most users are hopefully able to do ...

this is a very good idea! I have been looking for the "perfect" way to keep people from editing files for mods I have made for a long time
This will definatly help me with the end user with the merge modification I am creating for oscommerce.

Good idea. Use it, we do not need to modify the IPB when new version out , or add a new skin.

thank you. the current version is pretty complete, and I don't expect any significant changes anymore, so the Modders can start playing with the new interface and write Plug-Ins ... or port their current Mods

just a little update for those who care

The beta team is established, and I'm busy as hell writing documentation for them

Version 0.4.8 is currently beeing under evaluation, and 0.4.9 is going to be released for the beta team next week.

The example Plug-Ins are growing, and a set of "core" Plug-Ins will be available with the public release: DB (PEAR layer), Global Language Extension, Supervisor (for ACP), RSS - by Cow, of course , and some other small Goodies mainly to allow other Plug-Ins to share their data.

If things go well, and Murphy's not constantly bothering me, v0.5 will be available for public download by the end of June.
