Wow. I read through this and just HAD to post.

This is really sad on IPS' part. IPS works so hard to protect their own product that they even have their own piracy team (I think?). But when modders try to protect their work, IPS fails to follow through.

That's kind of one sided, isn't it IPS (i'm assuming someone will read this)?
IPB is one of the most pirated forum systems out there. You work hard on it. You put a bunch of effort into it, etc. You want your product protected (or just want the $). IPS, of all groups involved in this, should MOST DEFINITELY realize how much you want to PROTECT YOUR PRODUCT.

-Yet you fail to see that from a modder's perspective.

Let's be honest. What makes IPB stand out is the mods. The actual system is pretty average. Hell, vBulletin probably beats IPB in base functionality features. Just take a look- it took IPS 12 or so releases to come out with a reputation system that vB had for as long as I can remember. That says something.
But what puts IPB beyond vB is the community of modders.
Face it, IPS. Without the modders, your forum system is nothing special.

And now you fail to protect the one group of people that make your system worth something.

SAD.

You do everything you can to protect against piracy.

For the modders, what DawPi is doing is exactly that: piracy.
The immortal enemy of IPS.

IPS. Imagine if someone, from a foreign nation mind you (protected against copyright laws), took your forum system, changed some stuff around and maybe included a mod pre-built into the system and sold it. How would YOU feel?
How do you think MUDD feels when he sees someone selling HIS Token of Death mod?

I have a feeling my post is going to be super controversial to those who support DawPi (if any) and those who are against him. But I really feel strongly about this. Modders have done so much for IPS and has pretty much allowed their forum system to continue living on.
IPS stands back and does nothing.

Very sad, IPS. Very sad.
I'm glad I go to other resource sites for help and support, because clearly, that department is not your forte.

And just a side note-
an online petition is not an attack, as pointed out already. I could have easily gone online to like some petition service website and made one. So yes. Just to reiterate, petition =/= attacking a person.

And just one last thing-
seriously, IPS. Imagine someone selling a forum system named like... Envision Power Board on your site. It has a different skin, and it has a built in...say...sliding log in system. It's not IPB, it's EPB now! Selling price, $25!!
What would you do? (well other than ban the user, delete the topic, and try to keep things hush hush)
Like. No. Honestly. What would you do?

Welcome to the modders' perspective.
