Yesterday at 10.00pm (GMT) ibforen.de has done a little step forward, no in fact it was a big step. Our old server has become slower and slower and it was time to change the hardware and the server location.

Ok, this is done day after day and not worth any words.

But on the new server we have PHP5 and mySQL5 and so it was an adventure to test whether IPB1.3.1 (and Coppermine and MKPortal Singleboard version) will run in that environment. To get this working I have finished a new mod IPB1.3.1 For mySQL5 to modify some original code and the database structure.

Compatibility with PHP5 was already done with the last versions of my mod Security Fixes, Updates And Enhancements For IPB 1.3.1.

The whole thing seems to work fine, but we and our users will test this in depth the current week. In case of success I will publish the new mod here at IZE.

So please do not ask at ibforen for release time of that mod or any items concerning the that project. ibforen is dedicated to German speaking users and English speaking people can discuss the topic here at IZE.

If you want to test our IPB1.3.1, please use the test forums.

This is a great news to me.
mysql 5 is not that prevalent at this time though.

Is this means your mods works with mysql5 too? Im using resize images, ftp upload to another server, secure login.

sincerely regards.

I am very surprised that no ipb1.3.x user is interested in this topic (except of gulbida).

But don't cry for help when in the near future your provider is changing to PHP5 and mySQL5 and your board isn't running anymore. It will be more difficult to fix the problems under those circumstances than to apply the patches now.

Dont think many IPB V1.3.1 users will be hanging about here - they will all hang about in IPB V1.3 Support ;P

Thanks to pit,

Would this be the same fix needed when a certain host upgraded to PHP 5. Will I ever forget the problems that caused - in a word no!!!

So many boards and scripts went down it was unreal, but so simple to make right. Course we had to find the fix for ourselves. I found the fix through someone from IRC I do believe. The fix was to fix profiles.php and users.php with two taps on this key //

Some never returned to the host, I got banned for playing roasting hell at their indifference to our problem, not to mention their disapaearance when trouble loomed.

No some things I never forget.

Pit, I have a bunch of questions if you have the time.

How do you install the mods?

Do they have to be installed on native code?
As my code has been thru some changes over the years and I have added comments where I made changes before.

I have come up with another problem (maybe) using mysql version 5.x, if you have time see if your mod might take care of this. My post is here:

http://forums.invisionize.com/MySQL-errors-using-version-5x-t107300.html

Thanks for any help you can offer.
Billy

Update: Pit, I went back and reread the files in your mods and then a light came on. Sorry about being so dense with the above post. I have them installed and only had to edit one line of OEM code and all is working now. Great job on those mods. If you need anything from me, just let me know. I have downloaded some of your other mods but want to wait and see if my forum messes up again. Only open question I have now is the "Collision Test" do I use it before or after I install the mod in question?

Thanks again for your support and hard work on these mods and the installer. smile2.gif

Is there a version of 1.3.1 with the latest version of this excelent mod installed available for download anywhere?

EDIT: I actually meant with "Security Fixes, Updates And Enhancements For IPB 1.3.1 v.2.2.9" but a version with both that one and PHP5/MySQL5 one could also do biggrin.gif

You can't legally obtain it anymore because the only versions available for download are 2.1.7 and 2.2
