has anyone here heard of Koko? She is a gorilla that has been taught how to speak using sign language. She can even carry on full sentences. She has her own little house like that with many rooms including a bath room! She even has a pet kitten that she takes care of. you can see pictures of her holding her kitten on the site.
http://www.koko.org/

its so amazing that they can teach Gorilla's this.
Everyone who meets Koko says that she is very loving, sweet, and a real lady.

Check out her site and watch some of the videos. AMAZING!

Watch this video, so funny seeing her gigle and get shy and be silly!

aww koko meeting the kitten! she cuddles and the kitten and signs "baby...baby...baby" as a real mother would! :

I don't think it's THAT amazing. I mean, we did evolve from Ape's and they are extremely intelligent animals, so it's not that surprising that they can teach that to a gorilla.

We did not evolve from apes, apes and humans evolved from a common primate ancestor. That is, if you even believe in evolution... tongue.gif

I do. And gorilla's are still very intelligent regardless.

okay this is my opinion on that "evolve from apes" thing., if that were true, wouldnt there be half evolved creatures right now? Why would it stop all of a sudden and be humans and apes. I think there would be some in the middle. thats how BS all that is.

Evolution occurs in a species, not in individuals. I'm not surprised you think its BS, you should have been paying attention in school.

And yeah gorillas are intelligent. Did you see that movie "King Kong" ? Its amazing how they trained that gorilla to act like that laugh.gif

How do you differentiate between something that is fully evolved and something that is half evolved? I'm sure in a hundred thousand years (if we haven't killed ourselves, unlikely) we'll wonder something like 'why did we only have 2 arms back then?'. laugh.gif

actually when i was in school, they didnt really speak about human people coming from apes. im 21 now and I dont even think they seriously started teaching that until lately. I mean in science class or biology they might of said a few things about it but never got deep into it.

And i didn talk about individuals. I talked about species also. There would be some species between apes and humans still changing! cant just stop one year.

thats because humans don't come from apes, and evolution does not teach that

QUOTE

no there wouldn't because that is not what evolution teaches

Then why are we having this talk in the topic i made about a communicating gorilla?
i didn't start it. EVERY TIME someone says Evolution they say we came from apes. They have a graphic with an ape on one side, a human in the middle. and in the middle of that they have the ape turning into a human and at the bottom in text it says something about Evolution.
am i not correct or just to slow to pay attention to anything i saw while iwas in school or anything i hear when i turn on tv and here some lame people fighting saying you cant talk about god in school and everything has to be our way which is NO god and only science blah blah blah?

Good news. Koko has just joined this forum, and his username is 'Make Me'.

He's now a staff member, and will be charge of the Banana Skinning Team. laugh.gif
