Hello,
I've been looking everywhere for a plugin that will ask a question on the register form (e.x: what color is the sky: _____). Or if you could recommend me to a good plugin. It won't completely remove spam bot but it will significantly improve it.

The last few days I've been getting a few spam bots register, using names similar to ForumTeam and then sending PM's to members about viruses. I have a custom field that asks if you're human, answer is yes or no in the drop down menu, plus Captcha is enabled. Are they registering manually to bypass this?

Yes many hire people to register and then run the bots.
You should not allow mass pm'ing except by admins. Restrict the rest to 2 or 3 pms daily. -------------------- If you feel my help was worth something you can help me. Thanks. Make A Donation Will do Mods & Installations. Fix PHP code or write some new code. Pm Me for pricing. |

I have a custom profile field on mine, that asks "what is 3 + 4 subtract two", and I let the registrar put their own answer in. After that, they have to validate their email, then I manually hand select which members to approve. I also have it set to ask where they are located and I verify their IP address with 3-4 different IP address sites. Works well for me, but then I only have 3-5 new registrars per day.
If either field is wrong, they get deleted, no if's, and's, or but's sbout it. I have not had a spammer in about 3 years. -------------------- |

I've added a question now and already had it set for members to validate emails. I don't really want to manually approve account so will see how it goes.
