As of the last few weeks, Invisionize has been targeted by human spammers, trying to advertise various products. Whilst we are fighting these by deleting the posts and banning the members, some posts slip through our fingers.
We'd like to ask you to be vigilant about these posts and report them, so that a member of staff can come along and delete them. Or did a human just pass the reCAPTCHA test for the bots? |

Either way, spammers are getting passed, and we need to combat them.

Can always ban the IPs when a new human spammer or bot spammer registers.

They are more sophisticated than that, varying their IP and anything else we might track them by. I don't remember where I read that humans pass CAPTCHA tests for these bots at registration so even a challenge question could be defeat by a human...

The solution would be to code a mod which doesnt let them post links until they have X posts

The solution would be to code a mod which doesnt let them post links until they have X posts This would likely cause more errors, because the bot could be programmed to try its first post with a link, if rejected detect how many it needs and begin spamming without links until that number is met. You could have a user help register 100 bots in a day, each, say, requiring 20 posts to submit links within their posts, that's 2000 plus the ones they originally intended with links in them. Spamming from companies or individuals who use a human to register are almost impossible to prevent, and its likely they will always be so. For starters you would have to create IP Settings. 1. One account can be logged in with an IP at a time. 2. An IP Address cannot have more than one account unless otherwise added within the ACP (For testing etc) Even then, they may use proxies or IP Rotators. -------------------- -Tarquin

Well, the link solution works. They probably are not trained to handle that type of error response (even if they are, they wont be able to extract our custom error as the language is different and there will be no match). I'd say let's give it a try and see if they stop posting in my 'Moved to Mac OS X' topic all the time.
