YouTube BBCode

Description:
An easy working YouTube link BBCode... no more of having to only put the code like P3CxhBIrBho making users having to cut and paste and things like that.. but now for the lazy approach! Paste the whole link in as you see it on YouTube example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3CxhBIrBho

NOTE: This currently is completely operational for IPB 2.3 (v1.0) once I get my hands on a copy of IPB 3 I'll update it.

My thoughts: I've seen many YouTube BBCode mods but usually you have to cut out the video code eg: P3CxhBIrBho and put that in... kinda annoying.. I like to just go to my browser and copy paste http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3CxhBIrBho, I know I'm lazy . But the way that YouTube handles embedded links and actual links is a little bit different, so I am working on this mod so that you can just copy and paste the whole link.

What v1.0 has:
-The ability to to do the following
CODE

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3CxhBIrBho[/youtube]
- Works

What v2.0 will have:
-Admin can set default sizes and border colors for their board (example if they want it so when a user embeds a youtube video to be at 500x600 or whatever).
-User can then change default if so desired and if Admin allows it. (Possibly putting something like
CODE

[youtube=border:blue;size:425x344]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3CxhBIrBho[/youtube]
)

Note as I said this mod is currently functional for 2.3 its awaiting verification on the site to be distributed, once I get a copy of IPB 3 I'll see if I can put this there as well.

If anyone wants a demo link just ask.

Questions and Comments would be nice.

IPB Help

I'm making a modification for IPB 2.3.x. I've made the XML installer file for it, which is installed with UMI. The mod is designed to tell you who viewed the particular thread you're viewing. I'm attempting to write my code in a separate PHP file independent from IPB's main files. This is to simplify mod install for people who don't know much about how to edit IPB's files.

Unfortunately the info it needs to function, I don't know exactly how to pull that info from IPB's topics.php file.

Here's the code users have to put into their topics.php file.

This calls to thedisplay users function:

CODE

if ( !is_object( $this->viewers ) )
        {
            require_once(ROOT_PATH.'sources/iAideMods/WhoViewed.php');
            $this->viewers           =  new viewers;
            $this->viewers->ipsclass =& $this->ipsclass;
        }

        $this->viewers->display_viewers();

This calls to the update function:

CODE

if ( !is_object( $this->viewers ) )
        {
            require_once(ROOT_PATH.'sources/iAideMods/WhoViewed.php');
            $this->viewers           =  new viewers;
            $this->viewers->ipsclass =& $this->ipsclass;
            $this->topic =& $this->topic;
        }

        $this->viewers->update_viewers();

I don't think that code has anything wrong with it, unless I need to throw something else in there to make it work.

The error I receive is:

CODE

===================================================
Date: Wed, 03 Jun 2009 23:54:17 -0400
Error Number: 1064
Error: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1
IP Address: 127.0.0.1
Page: /iAide/index.php?showtopic=4
mySQL query error: SELECT * FROM ibf_topics_read WHERE read_tid=

It doesn't get the topic id like it should.
Voice It V1

I have been in the works of this production for the past four days now. It's going well, but, I have taken a break from it, lol...
I was wondering if anybody would be interested in this mod? I know some people would be, but I would like to know if this suits a wide variety of audience.

There is a downside to the modification:
*A wide amount of monthly bandwith is required
*Depending on your community, and how often the mod is used, you may want some additional disc space

This modification allows a member to upload a voice clip they have recorded to your server, and embed it in your post. It looks as of the attachment field, but smaller. Wav and MP3 formats are acceptable.
This modification is good for people who may have a lot to say. Good for debate threads / announcements / works in production.

*Flash
*Ajax
*PHP

So far, there are 13 file edits and 12 additional file to upload. This modification is getting a little bulky, so that's why I'm wondering if I should scratch it or not. It's pretty clean, you select an audio file, it uploads, and is auto-embedded into the post, ready to go. Nothing bulky appears in the post, just a simple play and pause button. (The flash)

I am already planning out V1.1, which required Java - but members are able to record their voice directly to the server.

Let me know,
-cwade

EDIT:

Once I finish Alpha, I will upload some screenshots here.
Once I finish Beta, I will release it.
