Betting System

Like my other component, this one has been used for a while. I created this one myself rather than having someone else start it.

It's really a mess of code at the moment though and I really should re-work some of it. I am guessing I could finish it by some time in September, same with the other component.

At the moment it allows betting on matchups such as sporting events or whatever else. Also has contests (which I used last year for the NCAA bowl games where the person with the most correct picks won) and a bracket contest (which I used for the NCAA basketball tournament where you pick who will win between the 1 and 16 seed, blah blah blah throughout the tournament.

Like I said, a lot of fine tuning needed still. This is going to be a paid one also, but cheaper. Not sure about any free version. Complicated enough as it is without making another version.

I'll list features later, but this is more "new" than the review system. I'm still even trying to think of names for the components. lol

Review Component

Well technically this is "in production", but it's had working versions for a long time. I just chose to keep it only to myself.

Lately I have been working a lot to make it more optimized for potentially big sites. For myself I could get by with it how it's been, but if I choose to sell it then it needed a lot of changes.

If there is enough interest here or elsewhere I will "probably" sell it. I just like the idea of it being unique to myself so in a way I would "rather" not, but if someone else was considering making one I figured I better consider offering this because unlike any other one which could be made, this has been worked on for years and I have gone into great detail with it.

A few notes:
1. This is the only reviews component I have ever seen which was designed from the ground up to be a review system rather than taking something else and just turning it into one.
2. It was originally created by someone else and then I took over since I own the rights and he had gotten tired of working on it. So I learned programming ONLY where I could add cool featyres to this.
3. It will cost quite a bit. It may be possible I would have stripped down versions of it in the future, but as you will see if I list the features... this was a huge project with a ton of features.

So I am partly mentioning that it may be sold, partly still deciding and seeing who's interested, partly looking for suggestions.

I'll list the features when I get a chance if I do think I will release it. The list is huge. And one reason to purchase it if I do offer it is that I pay very close attention to detail, I add tons of cool features, and I am always open to adding more. (Not to mention I would want it upgraded to work with IOB 3 for myself, so when that is released, this should be updated.

I've just rambled on here and not listed features because first off if I don't offer it, then there is no point listing features where others could copy my ideas and secondly I am really tired right now. haha

Bottom line is I "wish" I could just keep it unique to my site, but my site is sod ead I am not getting enough use. Plus I saw the other guy was considering making one and I didn't want him to have to go to the trouble if he would decide not to do it if I release this.

If anyone has feature ideas, suggest them here. But most likely anything you can think of is already in it.

Any ideas I like I will put in and in the future if someone buys it and wants features I don't think are a good idea for the main download, I would add them in for a small fee for those individual sites most likely.

Sorry if this is all confusing or too much rambling. Like I said, I'm tired. So let me know some ideas or thoughts and I will get back to going into more detail on this and all the options and features.

Thanks

Custom Review Modd

Hi,

After searching a lot for a customized review module for existing IPB (2.3.5)community Suite, finally I have decided to do it on our own. For this I need your guidance and support with the following documents.

1. Helpful documentations to assist me in using predefined functions.

2. Documentation to understand the schema of the IPB database, to find how to integrate new tables without disturbing the operation of the forum.

I truly believe that a “Destination Review” module like this will be beneficial for the community at large, as a new plug-in which is not there at present.

Thanks and Regards,
Rathore

IPB.Widgets Version 2

Hey everyone,

I created a modification back in December for the mod contest called IPB Widgets. Although it was simple, it won first place. There are many ways I feel like I could improve the system, make it easier, more fun to use, etc.

Here's the original post for it: http://forums.invisionize.com/index.php?s=...mp;p=1175340774

Here are my ideas for version 2:

AJAX Drag and Drop Moving and Reordering of Widgets

Default zones that don't require editing of skin templates.

A lot more widget types (ie pulling a websites flickr images), etc.

A tool in the ACP for creating new widgets.

Possibly extend the modification to create widgets using the forums data to be used on other sites. (A little out of scope of the original modification, but I think this would be cool).

Does anyone else have some ideas? Things that could be improved? Features? Is there any interest in this project?

eCommerce Solution

We've been developing to provide an eCommerce module for IPB and are planning to release a free and paid version in the near future. What we would like right now is some public feedback on features that would be required by a user in order to consider using, or even buying, such a product. As well as those pretty bells and whistles that would make the experience more enjoyable. We have a good understanding of what a store script should do and are mainly looking for things that would make a store worth having on a forum. What sort of integration should be involved, etc. However, don't let that keep you from posting suggestions about what a store should do as well!

I'm going to get a compiled current feature list, as well as some sneak-peak screenshots, within the next day or so and will add them to this topic shortly. Until then, whether interested or not, please post any and all requests for features that you would like and we will review them. The more feedback we get, the better the product will be in the long term!

FAQs:

What kind of store component is this?
This module will be capable of enhancing and creating auctions (normal and reverse), direct sale (store), and user to user transactions (bartering) complete with user rating systems, and more!

Will this be compatible with point systems?
We have plans to create compatibility with a simple points database and allow the creation of additional points modules for more sophisticated systems.

Will I be able to sell items for money or is this just a user points thing?
You will be able to use both points and currency (even in conjunction with each other) with this product. We have plans on making a custom conversion system to allow an administrator to assign a monetary value of points to their default currency. This means that, if you are using a points system, you can allow members with points to use them to purchase as if they were real currency!

Will this Mod be free?
There will be both free and paid versions

How much are you going to charge for this mod?
License cost has not been determined at this time. Once we have settled on a final feature list we may be closer to a decision on this.

Are you going to be looking for beta testers in the future?
Once we have reached the point of a beta phase, we will likely take on beta testers. Pre-order customers will have first priority to beta slots and the beta version will be encoded as it will contain features only included in the paid version of the software. Both Ioncube and Zend will be supported.

Will this be a component or mod for IP.Board?
This will be a component and fully customizable through the ACP interface.

Will you support external installer modifications (ie. Universal Mod Installer)?
The free version will not be compatible with any external installers.

Much much more to come!

Metalaxe Staff

REVISION 1
